CONFERENCE: Shari'ah and Democracy in Nigeria
The Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) in Washington, DC, in cooperation with the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies (CILS) - Nigeria and the International Forum for Islamic Dialogue (IFID) - UK are holding a conference on: The Implementation of Shariah in a Democracy: The Nigerian Experience. The conference will be held at the Abuja Sheraton on July 7 - 9, 2004.
Distinguished Muslim scholars, thinkers, and leaders from Nigeria and the Muslim world will participate in this conference to discuss Shariah laws and how they have been adopted democratically in some Nigerian states. The sessions include panel discussions, round tables and workshops on:
The Meaning of the Shari'ah Implementation of the Shariah Shariah and Good Governance Sharifah and Minority Rights Sharifah and Human Rights Foreign Perspectives on Shariah in Nigeria.
